Operational efficiency in a high risk environment
Collecting and packaging evidence for investigation after an event has occurred is core to the operation of a correctional facility. How can we package events more effectively so staff can be reallocated to more value-add activities?
BACKGROUND
Correctional facilities are complex, dynamic environments reliant on diverse technologies to address their high security needs.
Our goal was to provide a single unified interface to improve operational efficiency, faster response to situations, lower operational costs and ensure compliance to policies.
This solution would be built on Command Centre, our existing suite of applications designed to facilitate enterprise operations.
MY ROLE
I led the project from kickoff, with another designer supporting me. Since this was a collaboration between two SBUs, I was joined by 2 other designers. We took ownership of individual work streams and coordinated our efforts to create a common process for the release train. Started working on the project as a sole contributor. I had some research and workflows done by the previous agencies. But, initially, my role was to run the entire design cycle from discovery to delivery.
THE CHALLENGE
The Corrections initiative was a collaboration between two Strategic Business Units. It was a big undertaking with 3 proposed releases, the first of which was for early 2022.
